Report: Chelsea, Manchester City investigated by FIFA over youth player recruitment

Chelsea and Manchester City are being investigated by FIFA over their recruitment of young players, according to a report.

Chelsea and Manchester City have reportedly found themselves under investigation by FIFA regarding their recruitment of young footballers.

The world football governing body has stringent rules in place for signing players under the age of 18 to prevent exploitation and trafficking.

According to BBC Sport, the Blues and the Citizens are being probed by FIFA, and a source at the organisation reportedly told the media outlet that investigations are "ongoing".

The report goes on to state that City said have no knowledge of an investigation and are adamant they have done nothing wrong, while Chelsea insisted that they "comply with all FIFA statutes and regulations when recruiting players".

In 2009, Chelsea were banned from making signings for two years, while in May this year, the Premier League fined Man City £300,000 and banned them from signing academy players for two years.
