Fifty for nifty Griffin as Pistons edge past 76ers

The 29-year-old capped his haul with a game-winning bucket and free throw in overtime.

Blake Griffin scored a career-high 50-points as the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers 133-132 at Little Caesars Arena.

The 29-year-old capped his haul with a game-winning bucket and free throw in overtime.

Griffin, who scored 22 in the second quarter, made 20 from 35 attempts from the floor and was five-for-10 on three-pointers. He had 14 rebounds and six assists.

It was the first 50-point performance from a Pistons player since Rip Hamilton scored 51 in 2006. Griffin is just the sixth Detroit player to score 50.

The Pistons moved to 3-0, as did the New Orleans Pelicans after they won 116-109 at home against the LA Clippers.

Anthony Davis was the star of the show as he registered 34 points and 13 rebounds.

The Denver Nuggets extended their unbeaten record to 4-0 with a 126-112 triumph at home against the Sacramento Kings.

Nikola Jokic, who had 14 points and claimed 12 rebounds, was among eight Nuggets players to score in double-digits.
