Dele Alli is reportedly planning to ask for a pay rise which would break Tottenham Hotspur's wage cap and make him the club's highest-paid player.

Dele Alli has reportedly asked for a pay rise at Tottenham Hotspur which would make him the club's highest-paid player.

The 21-year-old's star has risen steadily since joining the North Londoners from MK Dons in 2015, going on to become an indispensable first-team player and England international.

Spurs famously have a wage ceiling in place at the club, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and striker Harry Kane the highest earners at £100,000 per week.

According to the Daily Mail, however, Alli - believed to be on £50,000 per week at present - is prepared to challenge Spurs in upcoming contract talks by asking for £160,000 per week.

The report also claims that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in Alli and that the midfielder would welcome a switch to the Bernabeu in the future.

Alli's existing contract at Tottenham has five years left to run.
