Defender Jan Vertonghen says that he has shaken off an ankle injury in order to represent Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has said that he is feeling "super good" ahead of Saturday's Champions League final against Liverpool.

Vertonghen has been regarded as a doubt for the game in Madrid after the Belgium international suffered an ankle injury against Ajax earlier this month.

However, the 32-year-old has now declared himself fit after coming through a number of training sessions with the first-team squad.

Vertonghen told VTM Nieuws: "I have fully trained with the squad last week. I feel good, super good. I have a history of ankle injuries, but I was only worried for half an hour - just after the Ajax game.

"The first assessments were positive - and you have to know that our physios are always very cautious. That gave me confidence. Still you have to wait for the scans, but they confirmed the diagnosis. After three days I got rid of the protective boot and the crutches."

Mauricio Pochettino is confident that Harry Kane will also be available after an ankle injury.
