Juanfran: 'We will be back'

Atletico Madrid right-back Juanfran insists that his side will return stronger from their 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Atletico Madrid right-back Juanfran has insisted that the capital outfit will return stronger from their 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Diego Simeone's side were less than two minutes away from winning the European Cup after leading 1-0 deep into stoppage time, but Sergio Ramos levelled to take the tie into extra-time.

It was Los Blancos that emerged victorious in the extra 30 minutes, with goals from Gareth Bale, Marcelo and a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty handing Madrid their 10th European Cup.

"It was a well contested final right to the end. The goal from Sergio Ramos caused us a lot of damage though," Inside Spanish Football quotes Juanfran as saying.

"All there's left for me to do now is congratulate the champions and say to our own fans, we'll be back!"

Atletico did not end the season empty-handed, however, with the capital outfit claiming their first La Liga title since 1996 on the final weekend of the campaign.
