Former Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is reportedly being eyed up by Chelsea to provide competition for Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Sergio Romero will reportedly be offered the chance to stay in the Premier League with Chelsea following his recent departure from Manchester United.

The former Argentina international left Old Trafford as a free agent at the start of the month after failing to make a single appearance in the 2020-21 campaign.

Romero spent six seasons with United in total but played just 61 times in all competitions, having spent the majority of that time as either second or third-choice goalkeeper.

Roma are rumoured to be considering a move for the 34-year-old, but The Telegraph claims that the keeper may now be on his way to Chelsea instead.

Thomas Tuchel is on the lookout for another goalkeeper to rival Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, and the report suggests that Romero is one of the options being considered.

Romero has also previously represented Racing Club, AZ Alkmaar, Sampdoria and Monaco across a 15-year senior career.
