Midfielder Nemanja Matic suggests that he does not want to leave Manchester United in the summer, despite speculation regarding his future.

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has hinted that he see his long-term future at Old Trafford.

During the early stages of the campaign, Matic found himself out of contention under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leading to speculation regarding a January exit.

However, in the absence of the injured Scott McTominay, the Serbia international has impressed in the centre of the pitch.

Although United are yet to take up the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months, Matic has suggested that he wants to continue his career at the Premier League giants.

The 31-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I'm now fit, happy and playing. Everything is okay at the moment. I knew that in football things can turn. I didn't know when my time was going to come but I knew I would have some chance to play and my job is to give my best.

"That is exactly what I am doing and even if you don't play you always need to be focused. Even when you're younger, you need to realise your time can come and when you get the chance, you have to use it. It is exactly the same for me. It's the same for players at every age."

Matci has made 17 starts and one substitute outing in all competitions this season.
