Manchester United reportedly launch an ambitious move for Chelsea attacker Willian on transfer deadline day.

Manchester United have reportedly launched an ambitious move for Chelsea attacker Willian.

The Red Devils have signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic in this summer's transfer window, but head coach Jose Mourinho has previously spoken of his desire to sign a fourth player before business closes.

It had been thought that it would be a quiet deadline day at Old Trafford, but according to The Sun, the 20-time English champions have made a last-gasp offer for Brazilian international Willian.

It is understood that any possible deal relies on whether Chelsea can bring Riyad Mahrez, who has also been strongly linked with Barcelona, to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City.

Willian, 29, excelled under Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea, and it is understood that the two still have a close relationship.
