Eddie Howe reportedly emerges as a candidate to be the next Crystal Palace manager, with the club confirming this week that Roy Hodgson will leave Selhurst Park.

Eddie Howe has reportedly emerged as a candidate to replace Roy Hodgson as the next manager of Crystal Palace, and he is amongst five other contenders.

Howe has held talks with Celtic surrounding the potential of taking the helm at the Scottish giants after Neil Lennon left earlier in the season, however there has been no confirmation of who will be the next Celtic manager.

Frank Lampard, Scott Parker and Freddie Ljungberg have all been considered by Steve Parish for Palace, along with Swansea City's Steve Cooper and Barnsley's Valerien Ismael, who are both battling against each other for a place in the Championship playoff final.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Parish discussed what he wants from the new manager and said: "We've got some ideas. What is important is that the next manager merges with the club.

"On the one hand a lot of people want the job and that's great. On the other hand, however, we have to make sure they fit. Outside the clubs that are traditionally at the top, I think we are as attractive as a job as you can find.

"We need to make sure we make the right choice so we can have as good as a relationship as we have had with Roy to build and grow the club with realistic expectations. We'll certainly give everyone due consideration and hopefully arrive at the right person for us now, where we are in our development."

Palace are likely to undergo a summer of change with up to 12 senior players out of contract at the end of this season and a new manager on the way.
