Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Getafe

Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Getafe.

Barcelona will look to extend their unbeaten La Liga record to three matches when they play host to Getafe on August 29.

The Catalan giants have collected four points from their opening two fixtures, a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad being followed by a draw at Athletic Bilbao.

While Barcelona are clear favourites to prevail against Getafe at Camp Nou, Ronald Koeman has increasing selection issues to contend with ahead of welcoming Azulones.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their next contest.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero only arrived from Barcelona on a free transfer earlier in the summer following a departure from Manchester City, but he is facing another couple of months on the sidelines with a calf issue.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Ousmane Dembele has gone under the knife to resolve the knee issue he suffered with France at Euro 2020, and the Frenchman is not expected to return before October.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marc-Andre ter Stegen was ruled out of Germany's Euro 2020 campaign after undergoing an operation on a knee injury back in May, and the shot-stopper will watch on from the medical room for a little while longer.

Oscar Mingueza

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: August 29 (vs. Getafe)

After recently returning to training after a hamstring injury, Oscar Mingueza was always in line to return to the squad against Getafe. However, given Barcelona's troubles in the middle of the defence, he could emerge as an option from the start.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Sevilla)

Ansu Fati has been put through his paces in training after battling his way back from a serious injury, and Koeman is hopeful that the teenager will be available for selection after the September international break.

Gerard Pique

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Sevilla)

Gerard Pique is no stranger to injuries during recent seasons, and the veteran centre-back picked up yet another against Athletic. The Spaniard was forced off in the 31st minute with a calf problem, leaving him sidelined until after the international break.

Pedri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Rest
Possible return date: September 12 (vs. Sevilla)

Having enjoyed no rest during the summer due to representing Spain at Euro 2020 and the Olympics, Pedri is well overdue a period of recovery. Koeman has confirmed that the youngster will now spend a short period on the sidelines with the view of returning against Sevilla next month.

Eric Garcia

Possible return date September 12 (vs. Sevilla)

Despite already being on a yellow card, Garcia committed a professional foul during the closing minutes against Athletic, subsequently earning himself a straight red. The new arrival will now sit out the meeting with Getafe.
