Arsenal 'to recoup more than £50m in player sales this week'

Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing Calum Chambers for £16m, as Arsenal begin to recoup money from their fringe players.

Arsenal could reportedly make more than £50m from selling relatively peripheral squad players in the coming days, with Calum Chambers the latest to be linked with a move away.

The out-of-favour defender is one of a number of players to have been left behind by boss Arsene Wenger for the ongoing tour of Australia and the Far East.

According to The Telegraph, Chambers is wanted by Palace in a £16m deal, while third-choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny is in Turin finalising a £10m switch to Juventus.

Lucas Perez and Kieran Gibbs are the others who have been told that they can leave, with the former earning links to clubs in Spain and Turkey in recent weeks.

It is claimed that Wenger is also tempted to cash in on Olivier Giroud as Everton are rumoured to be willing to pay £20m to sign him.

The futures of Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Jack Wilshere are reported to be finely balanced, meanwhile, with Arsenal waiting for rival sides to match their current salaries.
