Chelsea defender Reece James reveals his delight at contributing a goal and an assist in his side's 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Chelsea defender Reece James has said that it is "a great feeling" to be able to help the team, with the Englishman scoring in Sunday's 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League.

James provided the assist for Romelu Lukaku to make the breakthrough at the Emirates Stadium before the defender got his name on the scoresheet 10 minutes before the interval.

The England international has revealed that he was delighted to make a telling contribution in the two-goal success, and the 21-year-old also paid tribute to Lukaku's display on his second debut for the club.

"It is great to score against a tough opposition. To help the team is a great feeling. We started so well. Sharper. It helped settle the game down - the two early goals," James told BBC Sport.

"Romelu's performance speaks for itself. Everyone saw how well he played today and used his body. When we play this formation you have licence to go. Part of the job is to defend as well. The more players that can score in the team, the more chance you have to win games. That showed today.

"The team is very strong. We have top players in all positions. When one goes off another replaces him. It keeps competition high."

Chelsea will be looking to make it three straight wins at the start of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign when they travel to Liverpool next weekend.
