Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi suggests that Mikel Arteta has been given the target of achieving a top-four spot in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi feels that the Gunners can still achieve a top-four spot in the Premier League by the end of the season.

After being held to a goalless draw by Everton on Saturday afternoon, the North London outfit sit in 11th place in the table, six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.

However, Sanllehi has suggested that he has tasked newly-appointed boss Mikel Arteta with earning Champions League football for next season.

Sanllehi is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "There are different degrees of success and we want the highest degree eventually. To get to one point you need to go through phases. Of course we want to be back fighting for all the titles that we can fight for in every season.

"In the short-term we want to turn this around and our ultimate objective for this season is to qualify for the Champions League because this is the place where we belong."

Arteta's first match in charge will be against Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
