Arsenal strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are reportedly both doubtful for next Sunday's visit of Chelsea in the Premier League.

Arsenal may have to make do without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for next weekend's Premier League clash with Chelsea, according to a report.

The Gunners lost both strikers due to illness on the morning of their Premier League opener with Brentford, with Mikel Arteta already without Eddie Nketiah due to an ankle problem.

A front three of Folarin Balogun, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli failed to fire at newly-promoted Brentford, who claimed a deserved 2-0 win over the Gunners in front of their own fans.

Now, football.london claims that Arteta may have to work around the absences of Aubameyang and Lacazette once more, with both men classed as doubts for next Sunday's visit of Chelsea.

However, both strikers could supposedly still leave before the transfer window closes, although Arsenal appear to have lost out to Roma in the race for Tammy Abraham.

Due to the pair's illnesses, the report adds that Balogun is expected to be handed another start up top during the visit of the European champions, although he was hauled off after 59 minutes of Friday's clash with Brentford.

Goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard condemned Arsenal to a humbling defeat on the opening day, leading Arteta to apologise to the Arsenal fans for his side's display.
