Prime Minister Boris Johnson refuses to comment on the bombshell interview given by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Oprah Winfrey.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson refused to be drawn on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey during his press conference on Monday.

In the two-hour, no-holds-barred interview, the Sussexes made a series of potentially-damaging allegations against the Royal Family - headlined by the revelation that an unnamed member of the family expressed "concerns" to Harry about "how dark" his son Archie might be when born.

More than 24 hours on from the interview's broadcast in the US, Buckingham Palace has yet to be respond but Johnson was asked for his reaction during his coronavirus presser on Monday afternoon.

"Perhaps the best thing I can say is that I've always had the highest admiration for the Queen and the unifying role that she plays in our country and across the Commonwealth," he replied.

"As for all the other matters to do with the royal family, I've spent a long time now not commenting on royal family matters and I don't intend to depart from that today."

Pushed further, he added: "I really think that when it comes to matters to do with the Royal Family, the right thing for Prime Ministers to say is nothing and nothing is the thing that I propose to say today about that particular matter."

An official response from the Palace is expected some time within the next few days.
