Anne-Marie joins The Voice, new twist revealed

Anne-Marie joins The Voice, new twist revealed
Pop singer Anne-Marie is named as the new judge on the next series of The Voice.

Pop singer Anne-Marie has been named as Meghan Trainor's replacement on the next series of The Voice.

The 29-year-old - known for hits including 'Rockabye' and '2002' - will take a seat alongside returning judges Olly Murs, Tom Jones and will.i.am for series 10, which begins filming today.

Trainor has left the show after just one series due to a combination of coronavirus travel restrictions and her recently-announced pregnancy with her first child.

The next series of The Voice will also introduce a new twist called 'The Block', allowing each judge one opportunity to prevent a fellow judge from adding a contestant to their team.

"I'm so happy that Anne-Marie is joining us on the new season of The Voice UK," said Murs. "She was my guest mentor in 2019 and the advice and help she gave to my contestants that day was invaluable.

"I'm a huge champion of her. I can't wait to hear about her own journey and I'm sure she will be a fantastic coach.

"She is one of the biggest female artists in the industry right now, so it's great to have her join the team and also help bring the Essex ratio up! We are taking over!"

The new series will air on ITV early next year.
