Ed Sheeran has posted a tribute to his "brother" Jamal Edwards following the producer's shock death over the weekend.

The entrepreneur died suddenly at the age of 31 of a suspected heart attack at the home he shared with his mother, the singer and presenter Brenda Edwards.

Jamal - creator of the influential music platform SBTV - is credited with launching the careers of a plethora of British artists including Sheeran, as well as Jessie J, Dave and Emeli Sande.

Posting a picture of the pair on Twitter, Sheeran wrote: "I haven't posted anything coz I can't find the words, I can't reply coz I don't know what to say. Jamal is my brother.

"His light shone so bright. He only used it to illuminate others and never asked for anything in return. A stars light shines for millions of years after they go, and his will continue to light up every dark moment, we are all witnessing his power.

"I would not be here without him, professionally and personally. There will never be anything close to what he is, but I'm so grateful to have existed within his orbit. My brother, come on."

Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn were among the hundreds of mourners in attendance at a vigil for Jamal in West London on Tuesday night.
