Emmerdale star James Hooton says that he is unlikely to have the coronavirus vaccine.

Emmerdale stalwart James Hooton has revealed that he is unlikely to accept the coronavirus vaccine due to concerns over what it might contain.

The 47-year-old, who has played Sam Dingle on the ITV soap since 1995, told Twitter followers that he has made an "informed choice" not to have the vaccine and is confident that his use of vitamin supplements means that it is unnecessary.

Hooton's comments, which drew a mostly negative reaction from his followers, follow those of co-star Jurell Carter, who has been vocal in his criticism of the vaccine.

"I'm 47yrs old. I take Vit c,d, zinc, b-12, Q10 and anti virals such as Andrographis, Sambucus, Curcumin, Along with regular exercise and a varied diet," Hooton wrote.

"I may not be taking a Covid vaccine. I may be labelled 'anti vaxer' for being pro immune system, pro informed choice"

In response to a critical comment from one user, he added: "I did have a TB jab as a teenager. I've also had tetanus jabs. I now understand what a tetanus jab serves to do and what it doesn't. I don't even know the contents of the TB jab I lined up to take.

"I like to know what is contained in what I agree to now."

More than 32.4 million people in the UK have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, with the government aiming to offer a jab to every adult by the end of the summer.
