Disney confirms that the UK version of Fox will close down at the end of next month.

Disney has confirmed plans to close down the Fox channel in the UK at the end of June.

The general entertainment station launched in 2004 - originally as 'FX' - and has a lineup of programmes including Family Guy, American Dad, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story.

The move comes after Disney closed all of its UK children's channels last year and will leave National Geographic and Nat Geo Wild as its final remaining linear stations still on air as the company instead focuses attention on streaming service Disney+.

"On 30 June the Fox channel in the UK will close," a spokesperson confirmed to Broadcast. "Many titles will become available on Star on Disney+ and will be announced in the near future.

"We appreciate the support of our UK fans and can't wait to keep sharing the best stories with you.

"Star on Disney+ serves as the home of movies and television from Disney's creative studios, including Disney Television Studios (20th Television and ABC Signature), FX Productions and 20th Century Studios."

Fox has an audience share of around 0.4% in the UK and is carried on Sky, Virgin Media and BT TV.
