Wembley Stadium is reportedly put forward as one of at least eight grounds that will host behind-closed-doors Premier League matches from next month.

Wembley Stadium is reportedly in contention to stage Premier League games if the all-clear is given for the season to resume.

Ninety-two matches are still to be played in England's top flight after the campaign was brought to a standstill in early March by the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of plans to conclude the campaign from mid-June, The Mirror reports that league officials, clubs, police and the government will select eight to 10 venues to stage fixtures behind closed doors.

Grounds such as Anfield and St James' Park have been immediately ruled out due to their location in densely-populated areas.

However, the report claims that Wembley is under consideration as it is located on a retail park and has hotels and conferencing facilities nearby for teams to use.

Six of the 20 Premier League clubs are said to be against the idea of restarting the season next month.

Meanwhile, it has been suggested that a number of games could be aired on YouTube as part of the proposals put forward by broadcasters last week.
