Manchester United's plans to expand Old Trafford have been delayed until the end of next season, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly been forced to push back plans to expand Old Trafford due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Red Devils were apparently looking to reconfigure some existing seating arrangements in order to increase the capacity of their 73,300-capacity ground.

Any hopes of doing that this summer have been shelved, however, with the Daily Mail reporting that United will now wait until the end of 2020-21 before making any changes.

United's bitter rivals Liverpool announced last week that their own Anfield Road expansion plans have been delayed by 12 months.

The Reds are now targeting a 2023 completion date for the project, which will see Anfield's capacity rise to 61,000.
