A report claims that Santiago Solari is likely to remain in charge of Real Madrid until the summer as president Florentino Perez is unsure who else to appoint.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly planning to stick with under-fire boss Santiago Solari until the end of the season as there are no other viable candidates.

Four months after being brought in as Julen Lopetegui's successor, Solari's job is hanging by a thread on the back of three defeats in a week.

Madrid suffered back-to-back losses against bitter rivals Barcelona to crash out of the Copa del Rey and lose further ground in La Liga, before going down 4-1 to Ajax in one of the most humbling results in their history.

Solari remains in charge two days on from that Champions League exit, however, and Marca suggests that he will likely still be around until the end of the campaign.

That is because Perez feels there is not a figure capable of guiding the team for the next two months, and possibly beyond, so it is easier to stick with what they have got for now.

The report also indicates that Perez spoke with Solari after the Ajax defeat to demand an explanation for the performance.
