Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Gareth Bale, hopes that the Real Madrid forward can win over Zinedine Zidane after being left out of the Frenchman's last two squads.

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has said that "it is a shame" Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane continues to overlook the Welsh forward for selection.

Zidane left the 29-year-old out of his squad for last weekend's 3-2 win against Villarreal and has done likewise for Sunday's trip to Real Sociedad.

Bale has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Manchester United, while former club Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

However, Barnett hopes that his client will remain a Madrid player, telling Goal.com: "It's a shame Bale is not playing.

"I can only hope that he keeps playing for Real Madrid. But that's up to Mr Zidane. Zidane makes the decision. Is this a message ahead of the next transfer market? You'd have to ask the coach."

Zidane refused to be drawn on speculation involving Bale when speaking on the eve of his side's final away match of the season.
