Swindon Town have signed striker Paul Glatzel from Liverpool on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old - who was out of contract this summer - leaves the Reds without making a single senior appearance for the club since joining as an Under-9s player.

Glatzel excelled at academy level for Liverpool, winning the 2018-19 FA Youth Cup with a tournament-high eight goals, and he was invited to train with the seniors by Jurgen Klopp later that summer.

However, the striker's progress was then hampered by a serious knee injury, which saw him miss the entire 2019-20 season, and he has failed to graduate from their Under-21s side ever since.

Liverpool reportedly remain in regular contact with the entourage of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

The World Cup winner is now free to open pre-contract talks with foreign clubs, having entered the last six months of his existing deal at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe's terms with PSG include the option for a 12-month extension until the summer of 2025, but he made headlines across Europe when it emerged that he was refusing to trigger that clause.

After conceding defeat in their efforts to sell the 25-year-old during the summer window, PSG reintegrated Mbappe into the squad after he was briefly made to train with other unwanted players in a group dubbed 'the undesirables'.

Arsenal have received a major boost over the fitness of Jurrien Timber, who has resumed ball work during the Gunners' training camp in Dubai.

The 22-year-old arrived for a ÂĢ38.5m fee from Ajax in the summer to provide a versatile option in the Arsenal backline, having excelled centrally and on the right in the Netherlands.

Timber's competitive debut for Arsenal saw the Dutchman start at left-back in the Gunners' Community Shield success over Manchester City, and he retained his spot in the starting lineup against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the Premier League season.

However, the defender's top-flight inauguration was cruelly cut short a few minutes into the second half as he hobbled off the pitch with a knee injury, which was later confirmed to be a serious ACL issue.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire for the Hoops to make "one or two" key signings to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.

Al-Hilal will reportedly again push to sign Real Madrid's Luka Modric this summer, with the experienced midfielder expected to be available on a free transfer.

Modric was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League last year, and it is believed that he was offered a three-year deal worth in the region of ₮300m (ÂĢ258m) to move to Al-Hilal.

The Croatia international ultimately signed a new one-year deal at Real Madrid, and he has again been an important player for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, making 22 appearances, scoring once and providing five assists.

Modric struggled for starts earlier this season when Ancelotti had a full squad available, though, and he could find himself out of the side now that Eduardo Camavinga is back to fitness.

Gimenez still has over three years remaining on his contract with Feyenoord, but the striker's exceptional form in front of goal has led to speculation over a possible move to a top European club.

The Portugal international came close to joining Bayern Munich in the final moments of the summer transfer window, only for his switch to the Bundesliga giants to break down at the final moment.

Palhinha had already undergone the first part of his medical with Bayern before Fulham pulled the plug on a deal, as Marco Silva's side were unable to bring in a replacement.

Fulham are said to have made a late approach for Manchester United's Scott McTominay but were informed that the Scotland international would not be allowed to depart.

Howe discusses Newcastle's transfer plans, prospect of selling star players

Eddie Howe believes that Newcastle United would have already made signings in the January transfer window if they were not working with the constraints of Financial Fair Play (FFP).

The Magpies have been hampered with injuries throughout this season, with midfielder Joelinton the latest to enter the treatment room after being ruled out for a minimum of six weeks with a thigh problem.

Howe has previously stated that the club would look to delve into the transfer market to fill the voids left behind by several first-team players in his squad, but that task has been made all the more difficult due to the club's financial predicament and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

On Thursday, Newcastle, who were taken over by the Saudi Public Investment Fund in October 2021, announced pre-tax losses of ÂĢ73m for the financial year ending June 30, 2023, "driven mostly by the continued investment in the playing squad".

Arsenal have confirmed that they have recalled Brazilian winger Marquinhos from his disappointing loan spell at Nantes.

The 20-year-old linked up with the Ligue 1 club in the summer, but he was nothing more than a bit-part player during his time at the Stade de la Beaujoire, playing just 149 minutes of football.

Marquinhos's unsuccessful spell in France saw him make just seven appearances in the top flight - providing one assist - and his only start saw him withdrawn on the 58-minute mark against Clermont.

Nantes returned to action from the winter break against Pau FC in the Coupe de France last Friday, but Marquinhos was not involved in the contest, having elected to represent Brazil's Under-23s at their CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the England international had left Man United for BVB, and he will spend the second half of the campaign on loan with his former side.

Sancho has not played for the Red Devils since the end of August, with Ten Hag claiming that he left the ex-Manchester City youngster out against Arsenal at the start of September due to some poor performances in training.

The 23-year-old insisted that was not the case, claiming that he had been made "a scapegoat" in a post on social media, and the relationship with his manager has since broken down.

Real Madrid are reportedly having doubts over whether to pursue a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

For a number of years, there has been a frequent link between Los Blancos and the 2018 World Cup winner, with the feeling being that he will eventually move to the Bernabeu.

However, in 2022, Mbappe famously made a late U-turn, rejecting the chance to complete a switch to Real in favour of extending his stay at Parc des Princes.

Twenty months later and the clubs are each facing a similar scenario, with Real waiting in the wings while Mbappe decides where to spend the next phase of his career.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Leeds United youngster Archie Gray as a potential transfer target.

While Gray has long been tipped as a top prospect at Elland Road, being just 17 years of age seemingly made it unlikely that he would be granted regular first-team football under Daniel Farke.

Instead, Gray has accumulated the third most minutes in the entire squad in the Championship, making 25 starts and two substitute outings in all competitions during 2023-24.

Although the majority of his outings have come in the unfamiliar role of right-back, the level of his performances there and in central midfield have further enhanced his reputation.

Wigan sign Luke Chambers on loan from Liverpool

"I'm over the moon to sign here. It's such a historic club with a lot of great players here, and I've come here to help the team win games and get as far as we can in the league," he told the club website.

"I came to watch a few of the games - I thought the style of play was good, and I feel like I fit right in. The Club has a great following also, which makes it intriguing.

"It's about getting experience now. I had a little snippet of first-team football back in January, so it's about building on that and looking to push my career. I can't wait to get going, show the fans what I can do and hit the ground running."

Manager Shaun Maloney added: "I'm really happy to get Luke through the door. He's the perfect profile for that left-back position; he can play in a three as a centre-back or as a full-back, he brings lots of technical quality, and he's good physically.

"We need competition. We've relied very heavily on Sean Clare and Steven Sessegnon, and now we've got Luke Robinson back, so it gives Tom Pearce time to get back to his best, but overall, I think Luke's got a lot of talent, and I'm really happy to have him here."

Conor Coventry joins Charlton from West Ham

"The vision of the gaffer and the people behind the scenes with where they want to take the club," Coventry told the Charlton website when asked why he joined.

"I'm from London so I know what this club means to people and the size of it. I'm really looking forward to buying into what is going on here and being a part of it."

Manager Michael Appleton added: "I'm delighted we've been able to sign Conor. He's someone that quite a few years ago I took on his very first loan at Lincoln. To be able to be reunited with him on a permanent deal I'm delighted with.

"He's very, very comfortable on the ball and knows his position really well. He's a good passer of the ball, with good technique, and he's got a steeliness to him as well which I like - a bit of nastiness to him. He's one who lives his life right and is a proper professional."

Charlton Technical director Andy Scott also commented on the transfer, saying: "We're really pleased to secure the signing of Conor. He's a player we've been chasing for a long time.

"We've beaten off a number of competitors, not only in League One, but in the Championship as well. He's shown how committed he is to Charlton and what we want to achieve here. It's an exciting signing for the club and I'm sure the fans will enjoy watching him on the pitch."

Transfer rumours: Hannibal to Sevilla, Lingard to West Ham, Reyna to Marseille

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri reportedly favours a switch to Sevilla over Everton amid ongoing speculation over a possible loan move.

The Tunisia international made a name for himself with Championship outfit Birmingham City last season but has been restricted to just 10 senior appearances for the Red Devils in 2023-24.

Since netting his first Premier League goal in a 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in September, Hannibal has only made another four appearances in the top flight and was also overlooked for a start against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.

Both Sevilla and Everton have been heavily linked with a loan approach for the 20-year-old this month, and according to the Manchester Evening News, his head is leaning towards moving to La Liga.

Brentford director of football Phil Giles told the club's website: "Yunus is an exciting young player and we are very happy to have managed to bring him to Brentford.

"He's a player that likes to be aggressive, close players down, win tackles, and get the ball back for his team.
