Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly accused midfielder Paul Pogba of 'lacking respect' following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Southampton.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly accused Paul Pogba of 'lacking respect' following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Southampton at St Mary's.

United fell two goals behind to the Saints before fighting back to earn a share of the spoils in the Premier League clash.

Pogba was once again disappointing for the Red Devils, with the midfielder losing the ball on a number of occasions, while he also failed to make an impact in the final third of the field.

Mourinho is believed to have called Pogba 'a virus' in a dressing-room rant, before accusing the Frenchman of 'not showing respect to his teammates and supporters' following another poor showing.

"You don't play. You don't respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you," raged Mourinho, according to the Daily Record, quoting a dressing-room source.

The same source also claims that Mourinho branded Pogba 'a virus' as United fell 16 points behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Pogba left Juventus to re-join United in the summer of 2016, and the midfielder has scored five times and registered four assists in 18 appearances for the Red Devils this term.

The 25-year-old's long-term future at Old Trafford is far from secure, however, with both Barcelona and Juventus strongly linked with moves during the summer transfer window.

United are next in action at home to Arsenal on Wednesday night.
