Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Edinson Cavani was not fit enough to be involved in Wednesday's EFL Cup fixture with West Ham United.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Edinson Cavani was not fit enough to be involved in Wednesday's EFL Cup third-round clash with West Ham United.

Cavani, who has played just once for the Red Devils this season, returned to training earlier this week and was expected to be included in the squad against the Hammers in the League Cup.

However, Solskjaer has revealed that the Uruguay international "has not trained enough" to be included against David Moyes's side at Old Trafford.

"(Cavani) has not trained enough to be part of this. He is working hard and he knows his body better than anyone. He will put his hand up when he is ready," Solskjaer told MUTV.

The South American made his first appearance of the 2021-22 season as a substitute in the Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break.

The 34-year-old, who has scored 17 times and registered six assists in 40 appearances for his current club, is expected to leave Man United on a free transfer next summer.
