Thursday's Europa League predictions including Manchester United vs. Real Betis

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Europa League fixtures, including Manchester United vs. Real Betis.

Union Berlin vs. Union SG (Thursday, 5.45pm)

After being paired together in the group stage earlier this season, Union Berlin will go head-to-head with Union SG for a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The first leg will be played at Stadion An de Alten Forsterei on Thursday, with the return leg taking place in Belgium next week.

We say: Union Berlin 1-0 Union SG

Both meetings in the group stage ended 1-0 to the away team, but we can envisage a reverse scoreline on Thursday, with Union Berlin likely to be able to keep their opponents at arms' length.

The two managers deploy very similar formations with an emphasis on remaining compact out of possession, so it may not be a match for the purists to savour. However, the home fans will be roaring their team onto unprecedented success, with Union SG potentially having to settle for keeping the tie alive heading into the second leg.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

B. Leverkusen vs. Ferencvaros (Thursday, 5.45pm)

Bayer Leverkusen take on Ferencvaros in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at the BayArena on Thursday.

Leverkusen overcame Monaco in the previous round to reach this stage, while Ferencvaros received a bye after topping Group H.

We say: Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 Ferencvaros

Having significantly improved throughout Alonso's tenure, Leverkusen should have too much quality for their opponents on Thursday.

However, the Hungarian champions are likely to battle hard and will retain a threat in transition with the quality of Adama Traore and Tokmac Nguen, so it would be little surprise if they score to keep the tie alive ahead of the return leg in Budapest next week.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Sporting Lisbon vs. Arsenal (Thursday, 5.45pm)

Resuming their quest for an elusive continental crown, Arsenal travel to the Estadio Jose Alvalade XXI for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.

The Gunners progressed as winners from Group A to set up a tie with Ruben Amorim's former Champions League contenders, who dished out a 5-1 beating to FC Midtjylland in the playoffs.

We say: Sporting Lisbon 1-1 Arsenal

With Sporting being forced to bring in at least one inexperienced midfielder to cover for stalwart Ugarte, Arsenal would no doubt take advantage in normal circumstances, but a wealth of attacking injuries does not bode that well for Arteta's side.

While the Gunners should not share the same fate as North London rivals Tottenham did on Sporting's turf, they might have to be content with a draw before the two sides reconvene at the Emirates on March 16.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Roma vs. Real Sociedad (Thursday, 5.45pm)

Both placed fourth in their respective league tables, Roma and Real Sociedad convene at Stadio Olimpico on Thursday, to contest the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Last year's Europa Conference League winners now aim to take another step towards more silverware, as they meet La Real for the first time ever in UEFA competition.

We say: Roma 1-0 Real Sociedad

Roma have won only two of their last 15 competitive games against Spanish sides - losing 10 times in the process - but Jose Mourinho has changed the culture of the club. The veteran coach has claimed victory in 14 of his 16 Europa League home matches and knows how to get the job done - with La Real's recent lack of goals also helping his cause.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Juventus vs. Freiburg (Thursday, 8.00pm)

Aiming to leave domestic troubles behind and take a step closer to some silverware, Juventus host Bundesliga upstarts Freiburg on Thursday night, in the Europa League's last 16.

The teams convene in Turin for the first leg, with the hosts having lost at the weekend to fall further behind in Serie A - where they have already been docked 15 points - and their visitors riding high in the German top flight.

We say: Juventus 2-1 Freiburg

Juventus have not won a European trophy since 1996, and with a point to prove given recent events at the club, they should be clear-minded about their task. While Freiburg are far from pushovers, the Bianconeri possess far more individual quality and experience at this level, so can take a lead with them to Germany next week.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Sevilla vs. Fenerbahce (Thursday, 8.00pm)

Sevilla and Fenerbahce resume their respective Europa League campaigns on Thursday evening when they square off in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

At a time when Sevilla are down in 17th position in La Liga, Fenerbahce are second in the Super Lig, six points adrift of top spot.

We say: Sevilla 3-1 Fenerbahce

While Sevilla's domestic form should be considered ahead of this contest, they tend to be a different animal on the continental scene, especially in this competition. Although they may struggle to keep out Fenerbahce for the 90 minutes, we still expect victory for the home side.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Man Utd vs. Betis (Thursday, 8.00pm)

With nightmares of their Anfield mauling still fresh in the memory, Manchester United return to Europa League action with the visit of Real Betis to Old Trafford for the first leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday night.

The Red Devils progressed past Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the knockout round playoffs, while Manuel Pellegrini's crop beat Roma, HJK Helsinki and Ludogorets to top spot in Group C.

We say: Manchester United 2-1 Real Betis

With a refreshed XI taking on a Fekir-less Real Betis side - who are not always adept at keeping things tight at the back - the stage is set for a confidence-rocked Man United to continue their Old Trafford excellence and return to winning ways.

Pellegrini's side have developed an affinity for goalscoring and can still be expected to trouble Ten Hag's backline, but we still have faith in the Red Devils to glean a slender first-leg advantage before next week's trip to Spain.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Shakhtar vs. Feyenoord (Thursday, 8.00pm)

Feyenoord will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 18 games when they face Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw on Thursday.

With a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League up for grabs, both sides will be eager to gain a first-leg advantage ahead of next week's decider in Rotterdam.

We say: Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Feyenoord

Having suffered just three defeats all season, Feyenoord are favoured to advance to the quarter-finals, but Shakhtar Donetsk will not go down without a fight.

Feyenoord may have to wait until the second leg at De Kuip to assert their dominance on the contest, as a resilient Shakhtar outfit are expected to frustrate Slot's men on Thursday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.
