Kante returned to training on Monday, with Lampard confirming that the midfielder was in the "final steps" of his recovery. Lampard initially claimed that the substitution was precautionary, with the defender injuring his groin rather than aggravating the same knee problem, but the Blues boss has since confirmed that Rudiger would require scans on his groin, which he revealed had troubled the 26-year-old for a few weeks.
