England wrap up a series victory over South Africa by recording a nine-wicket victory on Monday morning at the Oval.

England have completed their victory over South Africa on Monday morning, prevailing by nine wickets to win the series by a 2-1 scoreline.

After the death of Queens Elizabeth II on Thursday evening, Friday's play was subsequently cancelled before the Test recommenced on Saturday.

Although neither team scored more than 169 in any of the first three innings, England had worked themselves into a position on Sunday evening where they only required 33 runs to secure the win.

Bad light stopped play on that occasion, much to the frustration of the England team and their supporters with their team on 97-0, but they wasted no time in wrapping up the triumph on Monday.

Zak Crawley, Alex Lees and Ollie Pope barely played a defensive shot, leading to multiple boundaries for the top three in the order and near misses for South Africa.

Kagiso Rabada got his reward for some fine bowling during the brief session by trapping Lees for 39, leaving Pope to join Crawley at the crease.

Crawley would finish on 69 from 57 balls, an innings which should help him retain his spot for the winter tours, while Pope added 11 from 10 deliveries to help get his side over the line.

England will now switch their attention to the T20 format of the game with preparation about to start for the World Cup, which starts in Australia next month.
