The Golden State Warriors confirm that Steph Curry has suffered "partial" ligament tears and will be sidelined for an unspecified period of time.

The Golden State Warriors have announced that Steph Curry will be sidelined for an unspecified amount of time due to a serious knee injury.

The 34-year-old - who was named the NBA Finals MVP for 2022 - had to be withdrawn in the third quarter of the Warriors' 119-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

Curry's collided knees with Mavericks guard McKinley Wright IV while trying to defend a drive, although head coach Steve Kerr insisted that Curry would return before the regular season ended.

"He's going to come back this season and hopefully sooner rather than later," Kerr told the press, but the Warriors confirmed on Monday that Curry had sustained "partial" ligament tears and would remain out until further notice.

"Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who exited last night's game against the Dallas Mavericks with 2:01 remaining in the third quarter due to a left lower leg injury, underwent a series of examinations last night," a statement read.

"An MRI last night confirmed that Curry suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a contusion to his lower leg.

"He will not play in tomorrow's game against Oklahoma City and additional clarity on a potential timeline will be established in the coming days."

Curry - who previously missed 11 games earlier this season due to a partially dislocated shoulder - won his fourth NBA title in 2022 with the Warriors, who sit eighth in the Western Conference.
