Tony Pulis admits to being "amazed" by Serge Gnabry's four-goal performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Tony Pulis has admitted to being "amazed" by Serge Gnabry's four-goal performance during Bayern Munich's 7-2 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The former Arsenal player, who moved to Bayern in 2018, netted on four occasions in the second half to condemn the North London club to a galling defeat which cast severe questions over Mauricio Pochettino.

His success with the Bundesliga side contrasts heavily to when Pulis, during a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion in the 2015-16 season, declared that Gnabry was not good enough to feature in the first team.

Reflecting on the German's display against Spurs on Sky Sports News, Pulis said: "I'm amazed, we had him at West Brom we took him on loan and we could never get him fit. I think he even got taken off in an U21 game.

"He went back to Arsenal, they sold him on. He was a good kid, a nice kid, I didn't mind him at all and he's really fulfilled his potential."

The defeat for Pochettino's side is the first time in the club's history that they have conceded seven times in a game.

Reports suggested that the Spurs boss gave his players the silent treatment after the game, leaving senior members to launch their own inquest into the defeat.
