Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will reportedly not sign a new contract at the club until the uncertainty surrounding Jose Mourinho's future is cleared up.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has reportedly told the club that he will not extend his contract if there is any uncertainty regarding the managerial situation at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils today triggered an option in De Gea's current deal which extends his contract by an extra year to 2020, but talks over a further extension beyond that have made little ground in recent weeks.

De Gea is understood to be happy at the club and willing to agree improved terms, but The Mirror reports that the Spaniard is wary of the route United might take in the upcoming years.

Speculation over Jose Mourinho's future has been commonplace this season following a poor start to the season which has left United seventh in the Premier League table and closer to the bottom than to leaders Manchester City.

De Gea is understood to want the managerial situation cleared up before he puts pen to paper in order to aid the club's attempts to compete for major honours once again.

The 28-year-old has only won the Premier League once since joining the club in 2011 and is eager to add more silverware to his collection during what should be his prime years.

De Gea is also reported to be demanding parity with Alexis Sanchez's wages of around £500,000 per week.
