Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is reportedly set to sign a new three-year deal on wages of £100,000 a week.

Ander Herrera is poised to stay at Manchester United as negations over a new deal have stepped up in recent days, according to a report.

The 29-year-old was widely expected to leave Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer after losing form under former boss Jose Mourinho.

Herrera, who was tipped to return to Athletic Bilbao, has enjoyed arguably his best spell in a United shirt since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed in December, leading to a big turnaround from the Red Devils.

According to The Sun, the Premier League giants have ramped up talks with the Spanish midfielder this week and have offered him a three-year contract worth £100,000 a week.

A United source is quoted as saying: "Ander is now ready to stay here after talks have been slow originally. The club have made it clear to him they want him to stay. They don't want him walking away on a free.

"He has a young family and is settled in the area. Ander is also really popular with the fans. It won't be too far different to the wages and deal he is on now. Everything looks to be heading into the right direction."

United have already agreed new deals with Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young over the past couple of months.
