Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott announces that he has made the decision to drop D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle from his starting lineup.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has confirmed that he has benched D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle.

The Lakers selected Russell with the second pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and Randle with the seventh selection a year earlier, but both players have struggled to find their form due to their side's problems on the court this term.

Scott has revealed that he has pulled the duo from starting duty to try to reinvigorate his side as they are currently 3-17 in their campaign.

"They're both really young and they still have a long way to go, they have a lot of work to do," Scott told reporters.

"This change wasn't so much based on them not performing up to their capabilities, it is based on where we are as a team and that's why I made this adjustment tonight.

"We're 3-17 so obviously it's not working so I wanted to get some new blood in there, some fresh blood and see how those guys play. Five, 10 games from now there might be another change."

Lou Williams and Larry Nance Jr will replace Russell and Randle in the lineup.
