UFC fighter Josh Samman dies at the age of 28 after spending a week in a coma.

UFC middleweight Josh Samman has died at the age of 28 after spending almost a week in a coma.

Samman was discovered "unresponsive" by a friend in his Florida apartment last Thursday alongside his ringside announcer roommate Troy Kirkingburg, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that no foul play was suspected in the incident and earlier in the week, Samman's mother denied speculation that heroin had been found in her son's system.

"He was a good guy and the face of the sport in all of North Florida," Samman's friend and fellow MMA fighter Sky Rudloe told the Tallahassee Democrat. "I'm going to miss him."

Samman had been due to face Oluwale Bambgose at UFC Fight Night 102 on December 9.
