Result: Nick Kyrgios appears to give up in Shanghai Masters second-round match

Nick Kyrgios appears to give up in his second-round match at the Shanghai Masters as he loses in straight sets to Mischa Zverev.

Nick Kyrgios ended his Shanghai Masters campaign in lacklustre fashion as he appeared to give up during his second-round match against Mischa Zverev.

At one point, the 21-year-old, who has previously reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon, walked off the court before a return was hit.

During a changeover, the Australian was also heard asking the umpire, "Can you call time so I can finish this match and go home?"

In the end, Kyrgios, who won the Japan Open in Tokyo last weekend, recorded a 6-3 6-1 defeat to Zverev - ranked 110th in the world.

Kyrgios lost serve five times throughout the match and could only convert one break point.
