Sara Errani has defeated Lesia Tsurenko in straight sets to advance into the final four of the Rogers Cup.

The world number 17 did little wrong in Toronto on her way to claiming a 6-4 6-4 triumph.

Having broken Tsurenko's first three serves, Errani looked to be on course for a whitewash victory in the opener, but she herself failed to hold.

That allowed the Ukrainian to pull it back to 5-3, but Errani was able to see out the remainder.

It was a similar case in the second, as the 28-year-old failed to hold after breaking her opponent, but once more battled through to claim victory with a third match point.

Simona Halep, who managed to overcome Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarter-finals, now awaits in the next round.
