Andy Murray reaches the Paris Masters semi-finals for the first time in his career after a three-set win against Richard Gasquet.

Andy Murray has progressed through to the semi-finals of the Paris Masters with a three-set victory against Richard Gasquet.

After the opening two sets were shared, Murray ended strongly to register a 7-6 3-6 6-3 win to take his place in the last four of the tournament for the first time.

Murray quickly established a 3-0 lead, but Gasquet broke back to level the score at 4-4 and the home favourite looked the stronger player heading into a tie-break.

However, Gasquet saw a set point go begging after an excellent slice down the line from Murray, and the British number one held his nerve to open up a one-set advantage after 73 minutes.

Gasquet regrouped during the second, though, and one break of serve was enough for the 10th seed to take the contest to a decider.

The third began with the two players trading breaks, but at 4-3, Murray took his fourth break-point opportunity of the game to give himself the chance to serve for the match.

He made the most of his opening, serving out to love, to set up a last-four showdown with either David Ferrer or John Isner.
