John Isner overcomes Great Britain's Aljaz Bedene in straight sets to reach the third round of the Paris Masters.

Aljaz Bedene's run at the Paris Masters ended in the second round this afternoon at the hands of John Isner, who recorded a 6-3 7-6(3) victory in the French capital.

Bedene, ranked 49th in the world, reached this stage of the tournament thanks to a straight-sets win over Marcel Granollers yesterday.

However, this time around the Slovenia-born British player found himself with a one-set deficit against big-serving Isner in just 29 minutes.

Isner was unable to make any further inroads on the Bedene serve during the second set, but he soon gained control of the resultant tie-break to secure his spot in round three.

The American will take on either former world number one Roger Federer or Andreas Seppi for a place in the quarter-finals.
