The Lawn Tennis Association expresses its disappointment at the news that Dan Evans has tested positive for cocaine.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has issued a statement in response to the news that Dan Evans has tested positive for cocaine.

The governing body said that it is "very disappointed" following the announcement but has pledged to offer guidance to the British number three.

"We absolutely condemn any form of drug-taking and will support the process which needs to take place," BBC Sport quotes LTA performance director Simon Timson as saying.

"We are in touch with Dan and we will offer appropriate guidance, support and education to him on how best to address the issues he now faces."

Evans - who represented Great Britain in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup and took part in clay-court events in Monte Carlo and Barcelona in the same month as the positive drugs test - is said to face a lengthy ban from professional tennis.
