Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro reveals his anguish at having to undergo further surgery on his troublesome wrist.

Juan Martin del Potro has revealed that he will undergo surgery on his wrist for a third time next week.

The 2009 US Open champion has played just 14 matches since the start of 2014, including three outings in Sydney at the start of the year, as a result of the recurring issue.

Having undergone an operation in January, Del Potro announced that he planned on making a return at the Miami Masters, but he suffered defeat in the first round.

"After playing in Miami my sensations were horrible," he said in a 15-minute video diary. "I didn't want to fight against tennis. I didn't want to hate this sport."

Del Potro is currently ranked at 571st in the ATP world rankings.
