Result: Britain's Kyle Edmund advances at French Open

Kyle Edmund advances into round two of the French Open courtesy of a four-set win over Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Great Britain's number three Kyle Edmund booked his place in the second round of the French Open thanks to a 7-6(4) (7)6-7 7-5 6-1 victory over Nikoloz Basilashvili this evening.

As the light closed in over Paris, the two players shared the opening two sets evenly on tie-breakers.

However, after that, the Briton took control of proceedings to extend his participation at Roland Garros.

In total, Edmund fired down 16 aces to overpower his Georgian opponent.

He will now take on either John Isner or John Millman for a third-round berth.
