Result: Great Britain's Dan Evans beaten by Kei Nishikori in World Group Davis Cup match

Great Britain's Dan Evans loses to Japan's Kei Nishikori, who ties the Davis Cup World Group Series 1-1.

Dan Evans has failed to add a point to Great Britain's World Group Series clash against Japan after getting beaten by Kei Nishikori in the second rubber of the day in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old suffered a 6-3 7-5 7-6(3) defeat to the world number six, but did manage to force the third set into a tie-break.

Evans sealed one break of serve in the first set, but Nishikori was too strong and took the lead before going a single break up in the second, which was enough to double his advantage.

The third set was a tense affair as neither player could hold serve, both losing it three times before a tie-break was needed to separate the two.

Nishikori came out on top 7-3 in the breaker, giving Japan a point and making the tie 1-1 following Andy Murray's win for Britain earlier today.
