Roger Federer beats Andy Murray 6-4 7-6 to reach the final of the Cincinatti Open.

Roger Federer continued his fine recent record against Andy Murray with a straight-sets win in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open.

Federer showed no signs of rustiness in the early stages as some deadly winners, mixed with some unforced errors from Murray, gave the Swiss an early break of serve.

Murray battled hard to stay in the set, but he failed to force a break point on the Federer serve as the 33-year-old continued to ease through service games.

He eventually took the first set 6-4 with a vicious forehand winner down the line.

Murray played more aggressively in the second set, and this helped to keep Federer at bay as it drifted towards a tie break.

However, Federer proved to be too good as a drop-volley gave him match point, and he converted it with a volley at the net.

He will play Novak Djokovic in the final.
