Exeter Chiefs fly-half Gareth Steenson kicks nine penalties to lead them to a 27-19 win over Saracens in the Aviva Premiership.

Gareth Steenson kicked nine penalties to lead Exeter Chiefs to a 27-19 win over Saracens in the Aviva Premiership this evening.

The fly-half made all six of his attempts in the first half, including one just before the break following a scrum infringement which saw James Johnston sent to the sin bin.

Having added six points with the boot before the break, Charlie Hodgson kept the visitors in contention with two penalties for Saracens early in the second half as neither side could get into a try-scoring position.

Steenson maintained his 100% record with the boot by kicking three more penalties to put the win beyond doubt for the hosts, before a mistake late on allowed Maro Itoje to sprint over for the game's only try.

The result leaves Exeter second in the table, a point behind leaders Bath, while Saracens stay fourth.
