Wigan Warriors hold off a late comeback from Hull FC to secure a 30-24 win in the Super League Super 8s.

Wigan Warriors scored a late try to clinch a 30-24 win over Hull FC in a closely-fought Super League Super 8s match at the DW Stadium this evening.

The home side dominated the opening half-hour, with Oliver Gildart adding his third try in as many matches to open the scoring, before Josh Charnley and John Bateman also went over.

Jamie Shaul made the most of a quick break by the visitors shortly before half time though, keeping Hull in contention as he leapt over in the corner.

The home side saw their lead dwindle in the second half as Jack Logan added his second of the evening, two minutes after Jordan Rankin crossed the line, leaving the Warriors just two points ahead.

Hull battled to win the ball back as they sensed a chance to complete the comeback, but Joe Burgess picked up the ball on the halfway line, sprinting back before diving over in the corner to clinch the win for the hosts.

The Warriors had already qualified for the next stage of the competition ahead of tonight's match, but are now level on points with leaders Leeds Rhinos.
