Shaun Kenny-Dowall: 'New Zealand turned over too often'

Shaun Kenny-Dowall laments New Zealand turnovers after their series defeat against England.

New Zealand winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall has admitted that his team provided too many turnovers during their 20-14 defeat at the hands of England.

The Kiwis looked well-beaten when Sean O'Loughlin scored for the hosts, but late tries from Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Jordan Kahu almost gave the tourists hope of a dramatic victory at Wigan's DW Stadium.

However, the Sydney Roosters back has conceded that New Zealand were "a bit one-dimensional" in the early stages of Saturday's game against the Lions.

He told reporters: "It was a pretty sloppy game, the conditions weren't great and we definitely didn't capitalise on the opportunities we had. We turned over far too much ball in our good ball area and that showed on the scoreboard.

"We probably should have played a lot more footy than what we did. We showed what we can do when we move the ball around and we were a bit one-dimensional for most of the game. We showed the way we should have played towards the back end of the game.

"When you're chasing points and time's not on your side, that's when you've got to throw the ball around and create an opportunity."

Kenny-Dowall scored the only try when the Kiwis won the second Test 9-2 at the Olympic Stadium.
