Hull Kingston Rovers coach Chris Chester has praised Ben Cockayne for signing a new deal with the club.

The 32-year-old penned a one-year extension with the option of a further 12 months on Friday.

Cockayne returned to the KC Stadium last year following a brief spell with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

"Benny is one of the most experienced players in the squad and that knowledge and consistency makes him a really important member of the team," Chester told the club's official website.

"He has been a consistent performer for us this season and his effort and commitment is never in question. He is somebody who understands what it means to play for this club and we're pleased to have him on board again next year and beyond."

Cockayne has played 23 times for Hull KR during the current campaign.
