The Russian authorities are reportedly planning to ban the sale of spirits on trains used by travelling fans during the World Cup finals.
The country's transport ministry is poised to suspend the sale of drinks with an alcohol level of 16.5% or over, according to The Sun.
Beer will be sold as usual but the ban, which has been ordered by deputy transport minister Alan Lushnikov, will apply to Russia's national drink vodka.
Trains will carry fans across large distances during the World Cup finals, and the authorities have expressed concerns about rival sets of supporters clashing on public transport.
Armed police and FSB agents are expected to be stationed on board all trains during the tournament.
