Olympic diver Tom Daley reveals benefits of wearing smaller trunks

Olympic diver Tom Daley reveals that smaller trunks are better at keeping "everything in place" when he is competing.

Olympic diver Tom Daley has claimed that smaller trunks are better equipped to keep "everything in place" while competing.

The 21-year-old, who recently won gold and bronze at the World Championships in Kazan, candidly discussed how divers make sure that their manhood is secure.

In an interview with Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw, Daley said: "If you're hitting the water at 35 miles an hour and certain things aren't in certain places, it can hurt quite a lot.

"So the smaller they are (my trunks), the more you can keep everything in place. There's also things about which way you dress, so most divers dress left.

"There's discussion on which way - up, down, left, right. It's just trying to keep it all in to yourself, as close as you can."

In 2012, Daley won Olympic bronze at his home Games in London.
